Remember Me?

you guys i am just not feeling the whole blog thing lately. i don't know why but i'm having trouble coming up with content that i'm excited about. i'm not saying bye or anything but i need to get my head back in it somehow.

ok so you just may have seen a post or two on instagram of our trip last week to one of our most favorite places on earth - nantucket. i promise a recap post of the trip this week! we really had a great time.

today i wanted to share a couple of sources for leather pulls because one of the best ways to dress up some built ins or a dresser is to add a touch of leather. a few examples...

via housetweaking blog

and from the amazingness that is amber interiors.

i always turn to etsy when looking for this kind of thing and these pulls are a steal at $16 for 2. loving the natural leather and brass. they would look awesome on a built in desk or on some cabinets in a living room. and after coming up empty on my search for pulls for charlie's ikea dresser, i'm thinking of using these!

on the other end of the spectrum are these pulls from walnut studiolo. they also come in natural leather and that wood and leather combo is so good. the size is customizable as well!

these pulls are from the same seller and have a totally different feel from the first one above.

some food for thought for your monday!

Fun Knobs

this past weekend we (i) decided to get our charlie boy a bigger dresser and since it was an "i" kind of thing,  i couldn't spend too much (are you catching my drift?! ;). so we headed to ikea, or as a friend of mine put it, swedish for divorce!! haha! happy to say we made it through assembly although i will admit we barely made it through carrying the stupid thing up the stairs (our stairs turn halfway).

it obviously comes with knobs but they're a little boring and i thought it might be fun to swap them out to make it feel a little less ikea. as it happens anthropologie has a ton of cute options.

obsessed with both the elephant and flamingo. and maybe the zebra too haha!

a bunny and a fox (although do you think it looks like a cat and not a fox?).

i love this one so much but it doesn't get great reviews. :(

love this guy - might be my fav.

simple and pretty.

brass and leather - heart eyes.

another elephant and fox. why not!

i need to go see some of these in person. anyone have a favorite?

Hardware Swap-out

ugh i warned you last week would be bad. i'm scared it's going to be like that through the end of the year :( but i wrote a few posts over the weekend so i will hopefully be more up to speed this week! we had a fun weekend with the boys including a 2 year old bday party complete with a baby animal petting zoo. huge hit. take note mamas out there! but i was also able to get a few projects done including hanging 7 pictures (more on that to come!).

"again?" is what both my husband and a friend said to me when i told them i was changing out our kitchen hardware. yes, yet again we have new pulls and knobs. :) to stay this time! the problem was once we changed out the pendants in our kitchen, the black knobs and pulls which i was so fond of started to look heavy against the shiny nickel. you so would have agreed if you saw it in person! ;) so i went back to the drawing board to find nickel pulls and knobs to try and ordered a bunch of both to see different styles. ended up choosing these...

cliffside artisan pulls:

i picked this style after studying lots of kitchens that i have pinned and noticed that simple pulls like this were used in a lot of them. i think the old cup pulls - which i absolutely adore - added to the weight. but  this style keeps some of that vintage-y feel with the faux screw.

and rejuvenation 1 1/4" mushroom knob:

i picked these because i wanted a knob that had a little bit chunkier base. learned from the last ones that they look a little wimpy when the base is really small. this one just had the perfect proportions to my eye.

but ugh there was a bit of drama with rejuvenation and i doubt i will order from them again to be honest. the first set of knobs came and every single one had small dents or nicks (all 26 of them). i was honestly appalled. what kind of quality control is that? they were very nice about replacing them when i called but still. annoying. the new batch came and they were much better but frankly not completely perfect. i was sick of hunting for other options so i put the ones that had minor imperfections on the lower cabinets and really you would never know. on the bright side, love the shape!

all part of the kitchen facelift master plan! p.s. our tile is in for the backsplash! yay!

New Knobs

today just a simple and quick before and after but it's a good reminder that little changes can make a real difference! i changed out the boring knobs on our bathroom vanity for pretty glass ones and it changed the whole look. it's such a lighter feel now and i love how they sparkle a little. as i explained to my husband who does not understand why these types of changes are necessary, they make me smile.

here is the knob (i used them before in the hall bath redo in our last house). i bought them from house of antique hardware and i would definitely order from them again. cheryl in customer service is incredibly helpful, just fyi. :)

after:

p.s. i was in the bathtub taking these pics!

p.p.s. where do you keep extra rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom? i have gotten stuck a time or two with little to no tp so i bought this little basket at homegoods. not bad for $5.99!

(yes our toilet is off center and it bugs me too)
