Randomness!

1. it's friday - yay! 2. it's inauguration friday - _________ (fill in the blank!). mr. r said to me, "can you believe this is really going to happen?" and i think whether you're a supporter or a "hater" or somewhere in the middle, it's pretty shocking.

i have a few of random things to discuss today. the first is that i'm very excited to report that i'm getting a new phone. if you've seen my phone, you'll be happy for me lol. it's wrecked. and this is the second screen that i've cracked so i gave up and didn't get it fixed again. a client/friend sent me this video and it's hysterical slash dead on. 😂



but i need to be much more careful with my pretty new phone so i'm wondering...anyone have a good case recommendation? i need it to be sturdy but also not ugly. i'm tempted to go with the "tough" version of the case i have now and add a screen protector.

and speaking of caitlin wilson, have you seen this bathroom she did? i can't stop staring. that hex tile all over the walls is such a statement but without being overpowering. so good.

lastly, i saw this lamp on instagram (and now i can't remember where!) and thought it was so great. navy with a linen kind of texture all for under 40 bucks. wracking my brain on where i can put it!

Blog Redesign In The Works!!

anywho, it's official y'all! i'm teaming up with kelly christine studio to make a lonnnng overdue and much needed overhaul of this blog. granted, i am not making money doing this so i'm not going to put a big chunk of change towards it but i am going to put a lot of effort into it because it's kinda like my little baby. it gives me a place to come, chat, and post some of my work. i want it to reflect me on a more professional level.

now i get to brainstorm about the look i'm going for and it's hard!! i'm glad i waited until now in some respects because i know i want to go neutral and calm. i think in the past i would have jumped toward color. neutral might sound boring but i think it will help on the sophistication and professionalism scale. my big question is do i add blue, my most favorite color? so i started to pull some images together that might translate into a palette.

Etsy Love: Pencil Shavings Studio

i've got a weekend full of work ahead of me which i'm really not looking forward to but today i get to spend with my little ones and it's date night later with my hubby so really not such a bad friday!

sadly a few weeks ago i dropped my phone on the floor of the garage at work. my favorite kate spade case did it's job and the phone is totally fine. but the case itself got a few dings so i thought it might be time to try something new - i can always switch back right? i had favorited the etsy shop pencil shavings studio but never purchased anything from them - until now! they have such cute things like iphone cases!

mine is the bluebell/cherry colorway (the cherry color is more of an orange or oh-wange if you are 2 1/2!). it has a matte finish which i missed somehow in the description but i like it. it's so summery and i've gotten a bunch of compliments on it too.

iPhone 5 Case Dilemma

my phone - the actual phone portion - i know, who uses that anymore? ;) got all wonky. started making calls while i was already on a call, dialing random digits, and would try to facetime suddenly in the middle of a conversation. like i'm pretty sure the electrician doesn't want to facetime with me. so i was up for an upgrade anyway and got an iphone 5.

of course now the hunt starts for a case. as you may remember, i have been pretty partial to kate spade cases (one even endured flying off the roof of my car!). but a new mistress has been tempting me - rifle paper company.

iPad Mini Case

today is patriot's day in massachusetts which means we celebrate the beginning of the revolutionary war. yep. and in our town there is a parade with minutemen (people who dress up like they are in the revolutionary war). it's actually a nice reminder that we live in a pretty historic place. they also fire cannons which are quite loud but i digress.

i finally ordered a case for our ipad mini that we gave ourselves for christmas. i'm in love with it!

i am SO into stripes lately, it's getting to be a problem.

and there are lots and lots of other cute ones that do not involve stripes in case you're not on the stripe train with me! :)

last summer i finally entered the world of the iphone-ers. best decision ever. and since i'm obsessed with mine, i had, had, to get a pretty case. i chose this one (that's hot pink around the edges).

but now, after someone, ahem, who shall remain nameless, dropped my phone, the pretty case has cracked. actually it may have already been on its way to cracking. this was the 3rd time it had been dropped - the first time i left it on top of my car and drove out of the driveway. the phone went flying into the street but somehow it didn't have a scratch and the case was completely in tact. so let me give a BIG plug to kate spade cases!

iPhone Obsessed!

i want an iphone bad. verizon finally comes out with an iphone. my eligibility date to get a new phone? march 2012. 2012!!! and the price before then is 3x the regular price. wah (in the words of snookie, i'm catching up on jersey shore).

anyway, if i did have an iphone, i would order one of these at dani notes, as seen over at kelly green. but how to choose??

anyone have any tips on getting verizon to let you re-up early??
