have you seen these or have you used them? i love how they look and can be used in so many applications. weddings, showers, any kind of party really and in rooms too.

Real Life Nurseries
so not that the rooms i shared the other day aren't from real life, but i have some more rooms to share and they all come from a friend and reader of this blog (thanks AF!).
the first is a room decorated by a girl who works for restoration hardware and man, did that discount ever pay off!
how cute is that chandelier?
this storage is amazing. love all the built-ins.
the second room is from the sister of my friend. her photography is bananas. and actually so is the room.
and this one is from another friend of the same friend! notice a similarity in the window treatment to the room above?
thanks to all of the ladies who shared their photos! i hope my room will measure up!

Nursery Inspiration
my ideas are starting to come together for our nursery so here are a few rooms that are inspiring me...
i like a lot things in this room but especially that one wall is different from the rest.
can i just say these stripes on the ceiling are killer! i would love to do this in my house but we have textured ceilings (i know, how did we get so lucky) and i'm not going to spend money to have them smoothed out. but i am keeping these stripes in mind!

any nurseries that have caught your eye? or how about those in your own home? i'd love to see any and all!

Copy Cat
did i ever tell you about my copy cat room? i saw this room about 4 or 5 years ago in coastal living and fell in love.
so much so that i decided to recreate it in my own home. and when we moved two and half years ago, i recreated it again in our new house! what first caught my eye was the rug, which is from dash and albert and something that i had already owned. once i saw it with blue and white, it was over.
i researched everything in this room - the linens, the lampshade and bolster fabric, even the poster on the wall. it's hard to tell in the pic above but there is also a band of pale blue that runs across the top of the room. so here is my room:
granted my photography is not the same caliber of the magazine! if you're interested, the starfish fabric is a robert allen pattern, the blue striped linens are from williams sonoma home, and the sheets are from pottery barn.
some i'm sure would call this unimaginative and, well, copied. but i love this room and i'm glad i can enjoy it in the flesh and not only in the pages of a magazine. i hope the original designer would be flattered!

Two Things That Don't Go Together!
#1 is this bathroom by mona ross berman as seen in house beautiful. COLOR!!! how gorgeous is this wallpaper?
#2 is another cape option in case you're looking. granted it's about twice the at loft one (when that was on sale) but it's very pretty.
that's my randomness for today!

Why Do They Do That?
why oh why, laura mercier, have you discontinued my favorite eye makeup remover? it worked so well and it was a sensitive skin formula. grrr.
does anyone have any suggestions on a moderately priced alternative? doesn't have to be a drugstore brand (or it can be!) but certainly not something in the la mer price range!
r.i.p.

Showers (Of The Party Variety)
i have showers on the brain lately because i'm going to two in next month or so. these tables from eddie ross are so beautiful and inspiring - if even only for the color palettes!
yum!

Friday Finds: PB Teen
i'm shocked but i am liking pb teen lately. specifically the lattice patterned fabric, drapes, and rug. the gray color could work in an adult space i think. if you saw these in a picture of someone's house and didn't know where they came from, you'd be like those are dope. you probably don't talk like that. neither do i really.
what do you think?

Quadrille Bedrooms
i guess this is the week of bedrooms but i can't help myself. this room has been all over the blog world and i'm still not over it.
ok so i can do without the cat (sorry cat lovers) but that lime green and aqua quadrille fabric and wallpaper is ridonc. even if a custom quadrille duvet is out of our budgets, it's still great inspiration for a color palette.
here it is again (i took this from a house listed for sale on nantucket for $19 mil. imagine?):

these are actually all from the china seas line but there are so many more rooms to look at - go see here. inspired? :)

So Yeah...
to follow up on the "cliffhanger" from this post, i wanted to share with everyone (although you may have already guessed and/or know), that i'm pregnant! and we're expecting twins!! as you can probably imagine, my mind has been in a much different place and my focus on this blog has gotten little lost. at first i was way too tired to do anything after work other than eat or sleep anyway!
we have decided (so far!) not to find out the genders so i think this will be a good challenge design-wise in the nursery but i do have some ideas that i'll be sharing. :) and even if we do find out, i'm not one to do all pink or all blue anyway.
i promise not to turn this blog into an all-baby, all-the-time thing. that's not why i started it. but inevitably as life changes, some baby stuff will creep in so i apologize in advance if that's not the kind of content you want to read. just please (pretty please) come back when the posting is on another topic!

Friday Finds: Ugly Boots?
so my intention of friday finds is not to provide you with ugly things to look at. obviously. that would be weird. but i couldn't help but notice how many ugly fall boots there are out there. take for example these selections from piperlime. (not necessarily picking on piperlime, just happened to be looking there)
is this a take on a guy's timberland boot? oh dear.
but let me just throw in the big 'ol caveat for those who i may have offended by saying that style is very personal. i, for one, am enamored with these boots from j. crew and i'm quite sure they're not everyone's cup of tea.
but man i would love to see these on my feet :) here are some others that i would gladly invite into my closet.
the almanac from madewell:
the archive boot also from madewell:
btw madewell is killing it this season. go have a look at their site.
bc footwear
dkny (of course then i open the newest instyle and see this boot featured on page 520... but i'll stick to my opinion!).

Speaking Of Capes
i purchased this lovely sweater version of a cape for myself (at 25% off!) and it arrived this weekend.
looooooove. the color is perfection and the trim is real leather even. i have decided it looks good with any style of pant – skinny, bootcut, or wideleg – the big trend this season. but strangely i can't find it online anymore.
so run, do not walk, to your nearest at loft. or your nearest computer, if it comes back online :)
p.s. any other great cape finds?
