you all know by now that i have a slight art obsession and that includes photography. i also try very hard to be true to myself in terms of who i work with and what i promote. so i was genuinely and incredibly excited when lauren marttila reached out about a little collab. i LOVE her work and i'm so happy to share it with you today!
lauren lives on nantucket and takes shots around the island as well as other locations. everything she captures has a calm vibe to it that i am immediately drawn to. i ended up choosing her "buddies" print which is then float framed via framebridge and creates such a cool look. we hung it in our bedroom and it's the perfect little addition to our space.
bedroom details can be found here: https://www.liketoknow.it/viewfrommyheels | wall color | nightstand | bed (custom) | stripe duvet
i have so many more favorites though...
i'm tempted to put one of these black and whites in finn's room. anyway, go see for yourself at laurenmarttila.com, i think you'll fall hard too!

File This Away
first and foremost, happy 4th birthday to my sweet little boys. how we have two four year olds, i really do not know. the years have flown by and stood still all at the same time. but they have been some of the best (and also trying, let's be real!!) years of my life! and to my silly, funny, smart, and incredibly handsome boys, in case you read this one day -- i love you more than words can say. finn - or should i say finny, you are so kind, observant, and focused and your smile melts our hearts. charlie - you are so funny, clever, and charming. you light up every room you enter. we're so very lucky to be your parents. p.s. i think i'm being so mushy because i'm writing this right after watching downton abbey!!
ok - i am totally filing this away for next year - artifact uprising for holiday cards and photo books and calendars. the designs are so simple and the books are gorgeous. what an amazing gift they would make!
the lay flat album is so beautiful and allows for full spread photos.
next year, sign me up for one of these wall calendars. so sweet!
so beautiful right?!

Photographer Christine Flynn
yesterday was the first day of preschool - ahhh!! they're still little but time is definitely flying! oh and a follow up on the watch post from a little while back. i got a call from the jeweler who had sent my watch back to tag heuer for an estimate. i still can't believe it but tag got confused and made the repair without the ok from me or the jeweler (i refused to pay the outrageous $1000+ estimate). they completely replaced the face, the crown, and the stem all for FREE!!! i feel like i won the lottery! thank you for the ideas you sent for a new watch but i'm happy to say i won't be needing them. :)
on to the good stuff...i found artist christine flynn through one kings lane and was completely drawn to her photos.
i just purchased this print and i love the light. i also think okl has very reasonable prices on large pieces of art. it would be nearly impossible to get a large size print framed for the cost of what they're selling ready to hang.
are you a fan?

Holiday Photo Cards
i'm looking for some custom photo cards for our christmas cards this year. anyone have any leads on some that are not from tiny prints, minted, etc? etsy has about a million and sorting through them all takes time, which i don't have. we're doing a little photoshoot with kate from ker photography this week so hopefully we get one or two good ones for a card. (i'm getting my hairs did at a new place the morning of the session. what was i thinking?? well actually, i was thinking that tyler is taking the day off so i have a moment of free time to myself that isn't on a weekend. no pressure new salon person :)
but it's not holiday time yet, it's pumpkin time. i found this on pinterest - i love how perfectly unperfect they are.

Happy Father's Day
a few weeks late! but i wanted to share my silly little idea that i did for father's day. the same photographer, kate eden renyi, who took the boys' newborn photos (see here) held an impromptu father's day shoot which i thought would be super cute for a first daddy's day.
i attempted to make onesies that said Da and Da for them to wear. :) i had grand plans of making letters out of fabric with stencils and bonding them to the onesies (think greek letter shirts in college!). but then i went to michael's, became compeltely overwhelmed by that store - not so much the crafty type - and couldn't find anything i was looking for. so i resorted to tracing stickers with fabric marker. i can hear all of the martha stewarts out there laughing!!
i was afraid it would look really cheesy but the pictures came out great and da da was very surprised!

KER Photography
local bostonians listen up! i wanted to give a shout out to kate eden renyi who graciously agreed to photograph our boys as newborns. she came out to our house and spent a ton of time patiently capturing all of the combinations of our new family PLUS the nursery. she even created a video montage of all of the pics and set it to music. needless to say my eyes were like a waterfall when i saw it.
kate is super laid back and easy to work with and has a ton of creative ideas to get some great shots! everything you purchase comes beautifully packaged in chocolate boxes with cream ribbon. the packaging alone is worth it! so if you're looking to have family pics taken or couple pictures or some of just yourself (just kidding unless you're kate middleton and plan to have your portrait painted for your husband as a gift) call kate! she rocks.
