Fall Transitioning

I know, I know, it's too early to be talking about fall clothes but i'll blame the nordstrom sale! ;) just a few pieces i've got my eye on plus one or two that are perfect for an end of summer pick me up!

1. striped pop over shirt - check out the pattern in detail, it reminds me of a favorite fabric! perfect for cooler summer nights and will look great with a denim jacket for fall!

2. cable mock neck sweater - this one is a major favorite! a lot of sizes sold out during the nordstrom sale but hopefully they restock.

3. purple flower dress - just got this last week and I LOVE! so simple and easy.

4. wooden earrings - they remind me of a a big happy sunshine!

5. olive button front jeans - perfect for fall and loving the button detail. I hope high waisted jeans never go out of style ha!

6. distressed denim - cropped, stretchy, and good for now and two months from now. ;)

7. sneaker - I bought this in a different color for when we went to NYC in april and wore them almost everyday - they really are that comfortable! I kind of wish they had this softer color back then - definitely spring, summer, and fall

8. pink sweater - I think oversized, chunky, turtleneck sweaters will be my jam for fall. (and also winter but I cringe at the thought of that word!!)

what's on your fall shopping list?

Current Fashion Faves

as our NYC trip got closer, I started to freak out about my suburban mom wardrobe. I think of manhattan as so fashion-y and that does not describe my closet as of late so I did a little (big) shopping trip before our trip. everybody got a refresh including the boys! so I rounded up those finds here plus a few more items I have my eye on for summer.

1. sweatshirt - cropped and cute with high waist jeans
2. jumpsuit - a bit outside my comfort zone but it's easy breezy and I already have plans for it this summer!
3. hat - very lightweight and the right amount of floppiness
4. shorts - not too short which is key
5. camo pants - I actually got these last summer but they still sell them and I really love them!
6. earrings - these were a gift from a friend and i'm obsessed.
7. leather jacket - I lusted after this for at least 2 years and finally tried it on. fit like a glove and it's my new go-to.
8. jeans - 9", my favorite rise
9. knot top - actually a lightweight sweater that I think will get a lot of wear. Also cute layered with a denim jacket.
10. mules - saw a friend rocking these and I fell in love. really into any heeled clog/mule right now.

ok I ran out of space so here are a few more items for the ladies and I didn't forget the boys - both big and small! my kiddos have never worn jeans before this trip and they both have vowed to never wear them again 😂 so we'll just have to come back to nyc!

Fall Wardrobe Updates

i almost don't want to say it - fall! - because it has been so nice here in boston. warm and zero humidity. the kind of weather we dream about! but all good things must come to an end eventually i guess (just not quite yet please mother nature!). i did some fall clothing shopping this weekend and thought i'd share some pieces that i bought and some that are on my wishlist. one can never have too many wishlists right? ;) p.s. 7 of the 14 items below are 40% off!!

i really crammed them in! ok here are my reasons why each item made the list... (everything is linked as well)

2. snakeskin flats. dressed up but still comfortable. need i say more? oh yeah 40% OFF.

3. leather clutch. goes with absolutely everything. and every season for that matter.

4. pink suede sneakers. because why not really?

5. leather nike sneaker. casj but not too casj. (casj = casual. i have no idea how to spell it.)

the 40% off sale lasts through today so hurry!

What I'm Loving Lately

besides getting to pick up our sweet pup from the kennel, reacclimating to regular life is tough not gonna lie. so i'm easing in with some retail therapy and another installment of random things i'm loving lately!

i've got some fun wardrobe updates with tees and shoes plus the chambray dress that i picked up in nantucket (it was in my stories). also great home stuff like the le creuset pot (also comes in navy!) and the colors are all matte which makes it even better. that book is SO beautiful and it's hanging out in my cart right now. i also bought the leather wrapped candle in nantucket but found it online too. it's  such a great accessory and it's going to travel around the house, i already can tell.

spring is finally in the air and that makes us new englanders extra excited! along with warmer temps always comes the urge to update my wardrobe. we also head to nantucket soon for our annual trip so i've started stocking up for summer. i've come across a few great finds lately that are decidedly summery!

Fall Clothing Bug

it bit me! i was waiting for it to happen and i think it hit a little later this year because we've had it so hot and dry but i wandered into a tj maxx today - which is becoming a store i shop at more than i care to admit - and found two amazing pieces for fall. and as the fashion bloggers like to say, they are both wear now and later pieces - a black lace top and torn denim. and yes i laid this stuff out on a rug and took a pic lol. #whatamidoing

the top is by guest editor which is a brand i've never heard of but that means absolutely nothing these days. i tried finding it online but i literally can't find a thing about this brand so maybe that says something. but i took two pics because i wanted to show the back of the shirt which has this cool seam detail down the back.

the jeans are joe's keagan (find them herehere and here) and i especially love them because they're a high-er rise (not high rise like that terrible 80s jean trend that's made a come back). as a mom i just appreciate not having to tug at my jeans all day. they run true to size, if anything a little small. i'm often between sizes and went up and they're perfect. p.s. to anyone who clicked on the saks link - how awful is that picture?! i promise they don't look like that on!!

some more black lace to try...

joie always does it right.

a pretty one from rebecca minkoff.

Fashion Monday

hey hey hey! we had a crazy past week and weekend but glad to say today we're finally on the mend. it was touch and go there for a while last week. also a big thank you to my parents for saving me/us. we appreciate it so much.

so a friend mentioned to me that i haven't done any fashions posts in a while which is completely true and i don't know why! i thought i'd share some favorite finds and lusts. shopbop had a big sale last week as you may have seen so i'm sorry i missed it with my picks but here are a few that are maybe worth it regardless.

a fave brand(s) of mine is joie and soft joie. i snagged this dress/cover up in white but also love it in the navy.

these sandals are a total favorite of mine. i have them in white but love them in black too.

i can't remember where i first saw these platform leather espadrilles - they are cuuute. i scooped them up in the tan but they come in a slew of great colors! oh and they definitely run small. i'm a 7-7.5 depending on the shoe and i needed an 8 in these.

has anyone ever tried anything from draper james (reese's clothing line)? the preppy side of me love this top and matching shorts combo. and the top is on sale!

lastly calypso st barths - i think you could show me just about anything from this store and i'd love it. and bonus - 25% everything through today! here are a few picks.

adorbs dress.

cute casual top.

and because you know i can't resist, this little stool.

have a great monday!

Crossbody Bags

yeah, i want one. do you have one? do you love it? i ran a couple of options by a friend who i affectionately call the bag lady. she is an expert. my faves are:

1.

and 2.

the thing i like about both of these is that they convert into a short strap shoulder bag so they're actually two bags in one! i also love the chain and whipstitching details. and the size - they are small enough that it doesn't look like you have a briefcase slung across your body but larger than some of the tiny style. i don't like the second one as much because of the flap which is just annoying to get into when i'm in a rush. and by rush i mean someone needs applesauce immediately. but it does have great pockets inside. then my friend pointed out that the first one might too long/deep meaning things could get lost at the bottom. p.s. these are both from the TB marion collection and i'm kind of obsessed with every bag in this collection. my mom got the hobo style for christmas and it's really cute.

so anyway, i guess i'm looking for a squat bag without a flap. is this even possible? this wouldn't be an everyday kind of bag for me at this point in life - it wouldn't hold nearly enough stuff! but for times that i have to myself or date nights, i think this style would be perfect. any favorites out there?! i might try #1 to see if i can make it work. treat to myself for making it four years with twins ;)

Fall Fashion With Aritzia

happy monday friends! i got very busy with some new client projects last week that the blog suffered a little toward the end of the week. but good news is that the cute young couple from this post started to receive some of the pieces that they've ordered and i can't wait to see it all come together!

fall started to creep into the air this past weekend and this is when i start getting excited about sweaters and scarves (before i start thinking about the season that comes after fall and then i start to cry!). speaking of fall clothes - am i the last one on board the aritzia train? unfortunately there aren't any stores around me but their clothes look insanely comfortable and worth a try.

a stripe blanket scarf.

and also this one.

baseball tee for fall with a great bum-covering length!

faux leather leggings that look just about perfect.

and a light weight layering sweater.

i wish there was a place to try some of this stuff on because it's hard to see all of the details online. free shipping over $100 though! are you already a fan?

Help Needed - Watches

two things first - 1. i met with a new client last friday and she is adorbs. i'm positive her husband is too but unfortunately he wasn't able to be there. anyway i'm super excited about this new project! and 2. we have planned two trips to FL next winter to make up for being house bound this past winter and are starting to make flight/car reservations. my hubby just happened to checked hertz for our april trip and we ended up getting a giant suburban for $270 for the WEEK. can you even believe that deal?? i almost feel like it was mistake! i bet the airfare will more than make up for the savings but you know, let's worry about that later. :)

ok! in a very sad turn of events i am in need of a new watch. i have a beautiful tag that i accidentally dropped apparently at just the right angle and yadda yadda yadda i can no longer change the date or time. kind of important features of a watch! oh and it costs obscene amounts of money to fix it.

so i'm looking for a new, affordable watch but i'm at a total loss.

this michael kors one is cute but i'm not sure it's everyday.

this one from fossil isn't bad.

a little kate spade action.

but i need help!! this is hard!

as always, it's a very good thing i don't have little girls ;)  have a great weekend!

Oversized

it's friday and we made it through the first week after the holidays. we should all celebrate - it wasn't easy. ;) getting back into the routine, especially now with kids, is so hard. i've been thinking that i'll start trying to dedicate fridays to clothing/fashion posts. seems right for the weekend!

it's been a little while since i've done one of my j crew rants so it's probably about time for another ;)  (here, here, here) as i always say, i'm one of their biggest fans and have a major love affair with them in general. but sometimes i think they go a little...astray.

first, are you aware that they now carry xxx-small? that's 3 extras. who are they marketing to? but it leads me to gripe #2 - everything is oversize. i'd be willing to bet that 1/2 of their tops including sweaters, tunics, shirts, all of it, have the word "oversize" or "loose fit" in the description. i get it to a point - a flowy top and skinny jeans are practically my uniform but it's getting seriously over the top. (pun intended!)

let me just demonstrate this oversize thing in pictures...

imagine i walked up to you wearing this. you would definitely think, and i hope say out loud, sweet moo-moo. i don't even know how to spell moo-moo. mu-mu? *this is not found in the sleepwear section!

maybe it's the way she's standing? (but i don't think so)

i mean...she just looks pissed off. i would be too. although this sweater is nearly sold out so clearly lots of people are on board with this one.

not sure if this fits in the oversized category or just really weird, but either way...you're welcome.

i almost bought those shorts. (no i didn't)

and i bet they wouldn't need xxx-small if the clothes were sized differently. but hey, that's just me. now off to place an order, just none of these pieces. ;)

Plaid.

'tis the season for some plaid y'all. a few plaid things that will get you in the holiday spirit!

this scarf from etsy - it's $40 and huge (not to mention the warmest thing ever - i have one from this shop!).

these shoes. a friend of mine found a pair of plaid joie shoes on rue la la and they were so cute that i had to go find something similar! and at $68 you kinda can't beat the price of these.

these pants from boden. i love the colors - blue, brown, purple and mustard which sounds hideous but somehow works.

this shirt. i like how flowy it is and it would look good dressed up or dressed down.

any other favorites? i'd love to know!

Men's Fall Fashion

wow - such a busy weekend here! and it was practically summer again on friday and saturday - i'll take it! but fall is definitely back in the air now and at the risk of this turning into a fashion blog, here is yet another post on clothes! but this time for the guys - lots of good stuff out there for guys right now and it's never too early to start stocking up for xmas right? plus my men (all three) have birthdays right around the holidays which makes it that much more challenging!

timberland (of all brands!!! i was totally shocked) makes this great casual jacket.

peter millar has some handsome looking shirts. i got my hubby this one for our cali trip and thought it looked sharp!

i recently came across a new brand that i'm loving for guys called mountain khakis. i love this sweater/jacket hybrid.

a casual sport coat with an attached vest (bib i think they call it!). yummy.

this belt which i just drool over.

and a down vest in great fall colors.

a classic, preppy fleece pullover

promise to be back with interior-related stuff this week! some fun updates to share at my house!
