for whatever reason this fall I am having a major sweater obsession! somehow every sweater I see, I like! how's your sweater game? if it's not all that you hope, here are eight options in a range of prices that will carry you all the way through winter!

left side, top to bottom:

1. I bought this camel sweater last year and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. it's one of those pieces than can go casual or be dressed up. fits tts.

2.  i'm obsessed with this soft, pretty - I think i'd even call it ladylike! - sweater. i'm also seeing a major trend of tucking a sweater into jeans/pants/skirts and i'm into it!

3. this rust color is everywhere this fall and I haven't tried it yet! the ribbed detail on this sweater is perfect. also available in other colors!

middle, top to bottom:

1. a few people I know swear by everlane and i've never tried them. this cardigan might change that though!

2. I haven't tried on this sweater yet but the color makes me weak in the knees! and if army green isn't your thing, it comes in 12 (not a typo!) other colors.

right side, top to bottom:

1. this turtleneck is a splurge but that warm pink is the kind of color that looks good on everyone. you can also find it HERE.

2. i'm not only a big fan of the price tag on this sweater but also the wear-with-anything appeal. I have it and love it! oversized but tts.

3. ok this cardigan looks totally granny at first look but I have it and I promise when it's not buttoned and worn with a t shirt and jeans, it's awesome. and it doesn't shed which surprised me since it's pretty fuzzy. fits tts.

Fall Transitioning

I know, I know, it's too early to be talking about fall clothes but i'll blame the nordstrom sale! ;) just a few pieces i've got my eye on plus one or two that are perfect for an end of summer pick me up!

1. striped pop over shirt - check out the pattern in detail, it reminds me of a favorite fabric! perfect for cooler summer nights and will look great with a denim jacket for fall!

2. cable mock neck sweater - this one is a major favorite! a lot of sizes sold out during the nordstrom sale but hopefully they restock.

3. purple flower dress - just got this last week and I LOVE! so simple and easy.

4. wooden earrings - they remind me of a a big happy sunshine!

5. olive button front jeans - perfect for fall and loving the button detail. I hope high waisted jeans never go out of style ha!

6. distressed denim - cropped, stretchy, and good for now and two months from now. ;)

7. sneaker - I bought this in a different color for when we went to NYC in april and wore them almost everyday - they really are that comfortable! I kind of wish they had this softer color back then - definitely spring, summer, and fall

8. pink sweater - I think oversized, chunky, turtleneck sweaters will be my jam for fall. (and also winter but I cringe at the thought of that word!!)

Summertime Finds!

it's officially our first day of vacation and I can not wait to relax and sleep!!! i've gathered up some things that i've purchased lately for the summer months plus a couple others that are on my wishlist and thought i'd share!

1. this is technically a top but I bought it as a swimsuit cover up and it's perfect. 

2. I have used this sunscreen for years on my kids and my myself - the big pump is so handy!

3. I always get a bunch of questions on the blue lamp shade I have in my house (see here) and recently came across this one which I think is a great substitute.

4 & 5. these jeans are my new favorites. love the 9" rise and the button front. the dark ones are slightly lighter weight and stretchier than the lighter pair but I love both pairs equally! I bought a petite in the dark pair so they would hit above my ankle and sized up one size since petites run smaller. 

6. I use this sunscreen on my face every day. it's lightweight, transparent (which means I can apply it without a mirror), and matte.

7. I recently tried this sunscreen and think as long as you really rub it in, it gives a nice glow.

8. this is a purchase I haven't made but want to - these shoes are so cute and perfect for summer.

9. every time I wear these slides I get asked about them. they're the best deal going!

10. a doormat you can hose off and easily clean? yes please.

11. do you ever get suckered into those instagram ads in your feed? sometimes i do and the latest was these goop pads. you use them once a week, you wash it off the next morning, and it's really easy. i'm a sucker for easy beauty products the (hopefully) deliver big. i've only used them once but so far so good.

12. a t shirt that states the obvious 😂 but hey it's cute and inexpensive (buy this one sale)!

Current Fashion Faves

as our NYC trip got closer, I started to freak out about my suburban mom wardrobe. I think of manhattan as so fashion-y and that does not describe my closet as of late so I did a little (big) shopping trip before our trip. everybody got a refresh including the boys! so I rounded up those finds here plus a few more items I have my eye on for summer.

1. sweatshirt - cropped and cute with high waist jeans

2. jumpsuit - a bit outside my comfort zone but it's easy breezy and I already have plans for it this summer!

3. hat - very lightweight and the right amount of floppiness

4. shorts - not too short which is key

5. camo pants - I actually got these last summer but they still sell them and I really love them!

6. earrings - these were a gift from a friend and i'm obsessed.

7. leather jacket - I lusted after this for at least 2 years and finally tried it on. fit like a glove and it's my new go-to.

8. jeans - 9", my favorite rise

9. knot top - actually a lightweight sweater that I think will get a lot of wear. Also cute layered with a denim jacket.

10. mules - saw a friend rocking these and I fell in love. really into any heeled clog/mule right now.

ok I ran out of space so here are a few more items for the ladies and I didn't forget the boys - both big and small! my kiddos have never worn jeans before this trip and they both have vowed to never wear them again 😂 so we'll just have to come back to nyc!

Fall Wardrobe Updates

i almost don't want to say it - fall! - because it has been so nice here in boston. warm and zero humidity. the kind of weather we dream about! but all good things must come to an end eventually i guess (just not quite yet please mother nature!). i did some fall clothing shopping this weekend and thought i'd share some pieces that i bought and some that are on my wishlist. one can never have too many wishlists right? ;) p.s. 7 of the 14 items below are 40% off!!

i really crammed them in! ok here are my reasons why each item made the list... (everything is linked as well)

1. turtleneck sweater. love the cool fringe detail at the bottom and the easy neck.

10. bubble sleeve shirt. tucked or untucked it looks great.

Color Of The Moment: Olive

hello blogging world!! oh you guys, i have major blogger's guilt. i just don't have time to fit it all in some weeks and i think i should probably hire some help but i also don't feel like i have time to wrap my head around that! i love what i do though and i have some exciting things on the horizon that i can't wait to share!

on to the good stuff...i don't think it's much of a secret that olive (and it's many iterations) is the color of the moment this season and i don't mind one bit! i've rounded up some picks for us ladies (and even something for the guys and kids!) plus some fun things for your home. keep scrolling!

What I'm Loving Lately

besides getting to pick up our sweet pup from the kennel, reacclimating to regular life is tough not gonna lie. so i'm easing in with some retail therapy and another installment of random things i'm loving lately!

i've got some fun wardrobe updates with tees and shoes plus the chambray dress that i picked up in nantucket (it was in my stories). also great home stuff like the le creuset pot (also comes in navy!) and the colors are all matte which makes it even better. that book is SO beautiful and it's hanging out in my cart right now. i also bought the leather wrapped candle in nantucket but found it online too. it's  such a great accessory and it's going to travel around the house, i already can tell.

Fall Clothing Bug

it bit me! i was waiting for it to happen and i think it hit a little later this year because we've had it so hot and dry but i wandered into a tj maxx today - which is becoming a store i shop at more than i care to admit - and found two amazing pieces for fall. and as the fashion bloggers like to say, they are both wear now and later pieces - a black lace top and torn denim. and yes i laid this stuff out on a rug and took a pic lol. #whatamidoing

the top is by guest editor which is a brand i've never heard of but that means absolutely nothing these days. i tried finding it online but i literally can't find a thing about this brand so maybe that says something. but i took two pics because i wanted to show the back of the shirt which has this cool seam detail down the back.

the jeans are joe's keagan (find them here, here and here) and i especially love them because they're a high-er rise (not high rise like that terrible 80s jean trend that's made a come back). as a mom i just appreciate not having to tug at my jeans all day. they run true to size, if anything a little small. i'm often between sizes and went up and they're perfect. p.s. to anyone who clicked on the saks link - how awful is that picture?! i promise they don't look like that on!!

Linen T Shirt Love

i picked up two linen shirts recently that i love and i'm sharing because you shouldn't keep these kinds of things to yourself. ;) before you freak out that it's linen - they say to hand wash but that's for people with time. i stick mine in a laundry bag in the washer and then lay it on a rack to dry.

i bought exactly one thing for myself on our nantucket trip and it was this linen long sleeve shirt/sweater from the island company. i love that store. we went to one in naples last february and i always try to go when we're in nantucket. anyway this top is lightweight and pretty see through - more so than it looks in the picture - but so pretty layered with a tank top.

second is this t shirt from j crew. it has kind of a boxier fit on top and then gets narrower at the hips which sounds odd but is actually a very flattering cut.

i'm actually on the hunt for some good t shirts - if you have any favorites please share!!

Fashion Monday

hey hey hey! we had a crazy past week and weekend but glad to say today we're finally on the mend. it was touch and go there for a while last week. also a big thank you to my parents for saving me/us. we appreciate it so much.

so a friend mentioned to me that i haven't done any fashions posts in a while which is completely true and i don't know why! i thought i'd share some favorite finds and lusts. shopbop had a big sale last week as you may have seen so i'm sorry i missed it with my picks but here are a few that are maybe worth it regardless.

a fave brand(s) of mine is joie and soft joie. i snagged this dress/cover up in white but also love it in the navy.

these sandals are a total favorite of mine. i have them in white but love them in black too.

i can't remember where i first saw these platform leather espadrilles - they are cuuute. i scooped them up in the tan but they come in a slew of great colors! oh and they definitely run small. i'm a 7-7.5 depending on the shoe and i needed an 8 in these.

has anyone ever tried anything from draper james (reese's clothing line)? the preppy side of me love this top and matching shorts combo. and the top is on sale!

lastly calypso st barths - i think you could show me just about anything from this store and i'd love it. and bonus - 25% everything through today! here are a few picks.

Lululemon And Me

there was a time when i wasn't all that into lululemon. i know. horrors. but since i left my sit-at-desk-job (coming up on one YEAR ago!!), i've been dressing more, comfortably, shall we say! yes these are fitness clothes but truthfully i'm not that into fitness. i'm trying to start doing yoga more regularly again and i walk the dog so does that count? anyway, their stuff is comfortable and sometimes i just don't feel like or have time to put on a real outfit in the mornings so i reach for spandex.

for christmas i asked for some lulu gift cards - big thank you to my mom and my mil for those - so i've recently been investing (and it is an investment!!) in some lulus. here are my faves starting with the 7/8 pant which can i just get a big hallelujah for this length? crop is good for summer but not winter in new england and full length is always just too long for me (i'm 5'5"). the 7/8s hits right above the ankle so they look good with tennis shoes (sneakers - i come from a part of the country that calls them tennis shoes which my husband always makes fun of me for!) and winter boots.

the pace tight. these have a mesh panel on the side but it's pretty thick mesh.

a friend of mine swears by these casual pants. side note - she says get them lined. i guess they sell an unlined version too.

the inspire tight. i feel like if you read the reviews on a lot of the bottoms, you'll never end up buying a pair because there are lots of negative comments. and since i'm not really putting a lot of strain on these, i'm hoping they'll hold up.

i have this pullover and it's warm and long.

i have one of these headbands in white and one in black and they stay put on me. i think my head is a funny shape because lots of these types of things slide back and pop off. but this one tends to stay. also, i often stand like this when i wear it. wtf?!

i've also learned that the stuff they have in stores and the stuff they have online is not the same. and vice versa. there was a great half zip thing in the store but i can't find it online. ok what are your favorites?? help this newbie out!

Favorite Winter Coat

last fall i was the lucky recipient of the "it" coat of the season - the chateau parka from j crew. these babies sold out faster than...well i don't know what but really fast!! i was excited to see that it's back this year and in a ton more colors! i have the gray and it goes with everything but there are lots of fun options. (i suggest sizing down one size, it runs pretty big!)

Fall Fashion With Aritzia

happy monday friends! i got very busy with some new client projects last week that the blog suffered a little toward the end of the week. but good news is that the cute young couple from this post started to receive some of the pieces that they've ordered and i can't wait to see it all come together!

fall started to creep into the air this past weekend and this is when i start getting excited about sweaters and scarves (before i start thinking about the season that comes after fall and then i start to cry!). speaking of fall clothes - am i the last one on board the aritzia train? unfortunately there aren't any stores around me but their clothes look insanely comfortable and worth a try.

Back In Stock!

two of my favorite things are back in stock and if you like them, you should jump!

1. west elm woven felt baskets. i first saw these at a friend's house probably a year ago and i recently noticed that they're back! they come in lots of sizes and are so versatile. they would be so cute in a kids room and awesome for toy storage. i got a bunch for storing magazines and fabric/wallpaper samples.

2. spanx faux leather leggings!!! i saw these probably a year ago too and passed on them because i wasn't sure if they were "me". remember that post? anyway i regretted it all year - i tried to track them down for so long and they've been sold out everywhere.

i'd pair them with a sweater like this one in the fall.

but let's not rush the end of summer :)

Pretty Pajamas

i have never been one to care about what i sleep in. a t shirt and leggings is my uniform. and i'm talking mismatched, old, hole in the armpit kind of shirt. but recently i decided to get myself a pair of real, grown up pjs at a serena and lily on zulily.

i have to say that i've been very surprised by how much i like these jammies. they're really comfortable! i'm even tempted to go back and splurge on this shorts set.

but then this past weekend i saw such a pretty pair on looklingerlove's instagram feed and had to investigate more! the brand is lake and the pajamas are so light and airy and just pretty!

if you like nightgowns, they have those too! so tell me, do you wear nice pajamas or old, crappy stuff?
