last but never least, the men! guys are hard to shop for so I'm hoping this gives you a few ideas to surprise the men in your life with a little something.
1. my hubs loves listening to music and brings a speaker with him on every vacation just in case 😂 this one is super portable and gets great reviews.
2. mr. r is not into products - cvs is his go-to - but he tried this moisturizer and asked for a refill!
3. these tennis shoes are great for running/working out according to mr. r and actually I have a pair too and they are super comfortable.
4. nothing really to say about a water bottle ha! but this is a good one.
5. dark green duffle bag. this is a an upgrade from a regular gym bag and professional enough to bring into the office.
6. shhh gifting this shirt to mr. r this year!
7. this vest is reversible and comes in a bunch of colors!
8. give your guy this scarf and then steal it from him the rest of winter. 😉
9. my parents gave my hubs AirPods last christmas and he uses them so much. great gift! I wish I could borrow them but I have small ears and they don't fit in mine!
10. a slim wallet WITH a tile so they can't lose it. genius!!!

Gift Guide 2019: For The Home and Hostess
ok finally back with the last of the gift guides and this one is for the home decor obsessed! sales are starting to heat up too which is always a bonus.
1. pretty placemats with a little fringe edge that I actually ordered for christmas dinner!
2. i'm a sucker for a pretty linen napkin.
3. three words: bleached pinecone wreath. I love that it doesn't read only "holiday" and can hang on your door all winter long!
4. this cookbook is all the rage with my foodie friends (aka people who actually cook) and they say it has great weeknight meal ideas.
5. the prettiest travel mug you ever did see. coffee would tase better in this (or in my case, it would still taste terrible 😜 but tea would be great!). this would be a great stocking stuffer!
6. a carved wood bowl that has a cool "found" vibe and p.s. it's on major sale!
7. I love a candle sconce when wiring for electric sconces isn't an option. this brass one is cuuuute!
8. naturally you need candles for your candle sconce (or just for your candle holders) and these pink ones are perfect for the holidays. ribbed or tapered!
9. a teapot with good design that can stay out on your stove? great gift!
10. I may or may not also have this vintage pillow - brown is back!!
11. this throw would go anywhere and with anything. want!
12. the splurge - this quilt is dreamy and will be on sale over thanksgiving!

Gift Guide 2019: Skincare Junkie
next up - the skincare guide which I am adding on a whim but I think it's worth sharing. I didn't get into skincare until my later thirties but i wish I had cared sooner - I wasn't nice to my skin in my teens and twenties! i'm still no expert but i've got some favorites and it's never too late to start taking better care of your skin. so if you have a skincare lover in your life, i've got you!
1. this serum is like instantly drinking a glass of water for your face. it's a shot of moisture and I use it every morning combined with #2 below. it doesn't replace a moisturizer though.
2. they say vitamin c is a miracle worker so I use it in two different forms morning and night. in the morning I use this serum and combine it with #1 above after washing my face and using toner but before moisturizing.
3. my go-to everyday sunscreen. it's lightweight and sinks in quickly. I apply it before makeup.
4. this concealer is nothing short of amazing and I don't say that lightly. I am oh-so fortunate to have dark circles under my eyes (partly due to not enough sleep, oops) and I've searched high and low for a good concealer. this stuff is pricey but it's more than just concealer - it also helps with wrinkles and puffiness plus has sunscreen built in. it also doesn't cake and crease like pretty much every other concealer i've ever tried.
5. admittedly I used to hear "face oil" and think it would cause break outs but it's actually the total opposite. this stuff is filled with everything good for your skin. I add a couple of drops to #6 below every morning.
6. I used to use la mer religiously but got sick of the price tag so I switched to this cream. it's a little bit thick so I add a couple of drops of #5 above and it becomes the perfect consistency.
7. i've never tried this lip serum but I want to. and if it does everything they say, i'm pretty sure it would be my new bff!
8. gwyneth paltrow says this eye cream is good and if gwyneth declares it, who am I to argue! I use this as my daytime eye cream and it works well underneath #4 above.
9. this mask is another gwyneth must have - i've never tried it but would love to!
10. apparently rolling your face with rose quartz helps create glowy skin? this puppy is on my wishlist this year!
11. this cleanser is part of my daily routine and it has tiny beads that exfoliate so your skin feels extra clean and smooth.
12. have you heard of the ordinary? many of their serums are under $10, this one included, and are powerful little things. I put a few drops on each night after #14 below and before #13. this is good if you want to use a retinol but find that they dry out your skin.
13. this serum is my other vitamin c fix. it's expensive but a little goes a long way so it lasts forever. it's a night time treatment and in fact you're supposed to leave it on overnight - i'm a sucker for anything you can don't have to rinse off - one less step!
14. if you're not already, get on the daily peel wagon. this one is a two step peel but it's quick - just 2 minutes in between each step. I really do think it makes a difference.
15. this mask may not be the most potent but I find it so relaxing. and my skin really is more plumped up when I wake up in the morning.
but wait there's more!! bonus section on this guide too - two drugstore favorites!
1. I use this cleansing water daily and it is just what they say, kind to skin. never dries me out or breaks me out.
2. the weleda skin food is supposed to rival la mer. I know, sounds crazy, but people love it. it's really thick so I only use it in the winter when my skin is more prone to drying out and only at night.

Gift Guide 2019: For Her
whether you can believe it or not (not sure I can!), it's now gift guide time of year! I looked back at last year and realized I didn't do one but then also realized that was because I was wrapped up in the holiday house tour. in the past though i've started off with the ladies so let's pick that back up this year - especially since 95% of my following is female and selfishly speaking it's definitely the most fun one to source and put together. what's that saying? happy wife, happy life? 😉
clockwise from top left:
1. the softest pjs - you've heard me say it before but lake pajamas are my very favorite. the green is fitting for the holidays but also works year round. fit tip - size up one size on lake pajamas if you put them in the dryer!
2. if she's been really good this year then she deserves this leather jacket. this color is to die for!!
3. shearling clogs - these feel like such a luxury and that's exactly why they're the perfect gift.
4. a cashmere beanie in a look-good-on-anyone color. it has that perfect laid-back chic vibe.
5. I love this turtleneck - it's just a little more refined with puff shoulders and balloon sleeves and it comes in a bunch of colors. also find it HERE.
6. dainty gold star necklace. I actually have this and I get lots of compliments on it and no one can believe it costs under $35!!
7. cute winter boots that also claim to be waterproof? yes please. i'm a sucker for a white sole too.
8. this leopard hair tie is such a simple accessory and yet so versatile. stocking stuffer ✅
9. faux fur has come a long way and I am all in. this coat is cuuute and warm, can't ask for more than that!
10. I wore these slippers to a photoshoot, snapped a random pic of them, and so many people asked about them that they had to make the gift guide. fit tts.
and one BONUS item! the amazon coat!! I got mine this time last year and I still get questions about it whenever I wear it. and for a warm winter coat, the price can not be beat. fit tip: it's you're between sizes, size down.
still to come: men and home!

Gift Guide 2016: Women
saved the best for last!! (although i still might do the kiddos!)
1. i love this bag so much. it's somehow so simple but not boring. just perfect.
2. beside the chloe version, this is my fav saddle bag. and i'd love to have one but alas i still carry around 800 lbs of crap with me on a daily basis so no small cute bag for me!
3. the classic bean boot. told you you'd see it again (also on my men's guide)! i have this exact pair and they 1. last forever and 2. never go out of style, at least in my opinion!
4. stylish and inspirational, what could be better? i can speak from experience - the new domino book is good!
5. not a gift guide goes by that i don't have a pair of lake pajamas. i asked for these again this year which will be my third pair - clearly i'm obsessed. i think i've said it before but it's worth repeating - buy a size up from your normal size, they shrink!
6. this hat will surely keep you warm and hip, a combo that's not always easy to find.
7. bracelet number one of two, the budget-conscious option, that does not sacrifice on style.
8. bracelet two, the splurge. it's just so pretty i had to.
9. i get compliments all the time on my phone case so i included it here! it's caitlin wilson's buffalo check pattern.
10. we all need an aspirational item, amiright? for me it's this coat which is a new style and i'm loving this dark green which weird weird weird because i'm not normally a fan of green.

Gift Guide 2016: Home
home gift guide today! also i did a late update to the men's guide from yesterday because i forgot a couple of things. #ineedmoresleep
1. cheers to these pretty bar cart necessities! they'd also make a cute hostess gift.
2. i love this doormat and it's simple design. currently out of stock but worth the wait for it to come back!
3. update art or photos with these brass frames. they have a great substantial feel and they work with any decor. change out the mat to give it your own touch or leave it as-is. such a great gift for just about anyone!
4. my splurge item for this guide :) the colors of this lamp are just perfection. it could literally go anywhere and you better believe i'm trying to find the perfect spot in my house! ;)
5. is it a towel? a blanket? a tablecloth? answer is: all of the above!! simply said it's maybe the most multi-functional decor item.

Gift Guide 2016: Men
it's that time of year y'all! gift guides are back! sorry i didn't get to them before all of the crazy sales over thanksgiving weekend but hopefully you haven't finished shopping quite yet. up first are the gentlemen and honestly this might be my favorite one. everything just feels so handsome!
1. classic bean boots. you just can't go wrong and these ones are lined with thinsulate which is a real game changer. (news flash - you'll be seeing another version of these again!)
2. some guys cook, not mine, but some do (!) and this apron will help them look dapper while they're whipping up something yummy.
3. i think i put the vest version of this jacket in last year's guide but what can i say? i'm a sucker for this style.
4. loving the simple look of this watch and the hint of green is a nice surprise.
5. do the men in your life wear slippers? mr. r does not and will not. i swear his internal temperature is set at like 200 degrees - the man is never cold! but if he did wear slippers, i'd get him these.
6. finding the right work bag can be a struggle. this one looks polished but also casual enough for every day.
7. according to the hubs, the cords are comfortable and slim fitting which is key since sometimes those two things are hard to find in one pair of pants.
8. i don't know what it is about these coolers but every guy i know wants one. and i caved this summer and we now own one but i like to think of it as a very early christmas gift ;)
9. this bag is definitely more of a wishlist item given the price but it puts every other backpack to shame (yes! it's a backpack!). but check out the whole selection at need supply - there are so many good ones at a variety of price points.
i'll be back with the ladies, home, and hopefully kids if i don't run out of steam!

The Mother's Day *Wish* List
to all the mommas out there - just go ahead and forward this post right on to your baby daddy. it's short and sweet, no over thinking required.
1. i pretty much threw myself at the computer when i saw this bag. and as of the time i'm writing this (sunday), it's 20% off.
2. turkish towels are so versatile. use them as an actual towel or as a piece of decor (my preferred method).
3. lake pajamas. i've raved about them before. it's one of those you don't think you need them until you have them sort of thing. like a king bed. p.s. size up one size
4. these chloe flats are a long shot but it's better than asking for a chloe bag!! ;)

2015 Gift Guide: For The Ladies
last but never least, the ladies. p.s. this is my last post for the week - i'll be signing off for the holidays. i hope everyone has a fun and happy turkey day!
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

1. i asked for these frye boots for xmas. i've actually tried them on and they're so comfortable.
2. this scarf is under $30 and it's huge. classic tartan for the holidays.
3. i posted about fancy jammies before so why not add them to the wishlist! these have the cutest xo pattern and pink trim.
4. a friend of mine has these pants and she swears they are the most comfortable she's ever worn. sign me up.
5. i found these bags via instagram and immediately went to check them out. i love the mix of the canvas and leather and the stripes add the perfect touch!
6. the color of this stone is so pretty plus this bracelet would work for both day and night.
7. everyone lusts after something and for me, it's a pair of valentino flats. santa, if you're reading this, i've been really good this year. promise. ;)
happy thanksgiving!!

2015 Gift Guide: For The Babes
thanksgiving week ahh!! finishing out my gift guides this week with the littles and the ladies. i'm afraid my kiddo gift guide is becoming increasingly focused on boys and more specifically 3-4 year old boys since that is what i live and breath at the moment! but i've tried to think outside of that very narrow scope.
2. charlie and finn love their scooters and love playing "scooter races" in our driveway. they can also take them around the neighborhood which is extremely helpful when trying to walk the dog. ;) this also comes in a bunch of other colors and this is the "mini" version but they also make a "maxi" version for bigger kids.
3. my little ones have all of a sudden gotten into dinosaurs. they walk around pretending to be them - a lot. it's a lovely sound.
5. one of these fabulous banners from sharp tooth studio on etsy would be the perfect addition to any kid's room or a playroom!
1. when i was younger i went through a sleeping bag phase which meant i slept in my sleeping bag on top of my bed every night. anyone else do that? bonus was that i didn't have to make my bed in the morning! here's one that you wouldn't mind seeing out all the time (also comes in boy colors).

5. one of these fabulous banners from sharp tooth studio on etsy would be the perfect addition to any kid's room or a playroom!
6. when my boys were babies i wouldn't have sprung for these booties (especially x2) but i sure would've loved to have received them as a gift!

2015 Gift Guide: For The Home
happy friday! how many xmas gifts have you bought so far? i admit, i've got a lot! i start early every year and tend to get things as i think of them or see them. in fact, i'm just about done for the kids. #freak. so today is my home edition of this year's gift guides. i genuinely love everything on this list and lot of these things would make excellent gifts.
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
and i forgot to label them duh so left to right 1-3 is the top row and 4-6 is the bottom row.
1. i'm in love love love with terrafirma ceramics and this one feels festive for the holidays!
2. you can never have too many baskets right? these are the most perfect.
3. sconces are such a great way to bring character and light to your home. swap out old ones for a cleaner, fresher look!
4. i like leather and i like poufs so this is pretty much it for me.
5. my new found love of diffusers continues and this one has a unique and yummy scent.
6. warm blankets can be kind of ugly but not this vintage mud cloth blanket. i want this SO bad. (hint hint!)

2015 Gift Guide: For The Guys
guess what friends?! it's gift guide time!! honestly i can't believe thanksgiving is next week. life is busy! so first up this year - the men. it's all clothes because let's face it, that's what most guys need and what many girls do best. here are ideas for both casual and dress.
1. this jacket is from mountain khakis which is a brand i discovered last year at a local men's store and it's become a favorite.
2. a friend of mine was telling me about a custom suit that her husband recently got through work and the pricing is right in line with brands like bonobos and boss. and my dad, before retirement, always had custom shirts made because he's not a regular size (tall and skinny). so a gift card for some custom clothes seems like a really special gift!
3. these socks are quirky and, yes, mismatched but they're kinda fun right?
4. every guy needs a nice, tailored sport coat for events and these days my better half has been wearing them to work a lot. such a classic look!
5. i love this vest and it comes in other color combos too.

2014 Gift Guide: Home
next in the week of gift guides - fun things for the house!
top row:
a trio of decorative boxes - i love all of these. put one on your kitchen counter, another on your desk, and one in your bathroom or your dresser. (here, here, and here)
every year i ask my mom for a desk calendar and this year this one from sugar paper is on my list!
bottom row:
affordable sheepskin pillow. at this price you can afford to swap it in and out of rotation. it would be great on a bed!
a great throw to cozy up with. this one's from faribault for target.
absolutely the most gorgeous photo holders. a little throwback, a little glam. these would look amazing on a dark wall or a magnetic chalkboard!

toms casual wing tips. i got these for my hubby for our cali trip and he wore them with a suit one day and jeans another. and he says they're comfortable!
sonos play 1. speaking from experience, this is a big hit. we have two play 1s and they give off plenty of sound.
this card holder would be the perfect option when he doesn't need his whole wallet. thick bulky wallets are a major pet peeve of mine!.

this bar necklace would be a great stocking stuffer - looks much more expensive than it really is ($48!!).
a new winter coat. i'm thinking an update is in order this year.
faribault for target infinity scarf.
bottom row:
baggu weekender bag in dipped gold. yes please!
ring holder which could really go anywhere - the kitchen counter, in the bathroom, or even on a desk at work if she's the ring taker-offer type!
clare v clutch. classic and pretty - this one would get a ton of compliments!

Gift Guide 2013: Kids & Pets
ending the week of gift guides with the small people and furry friends. this has been a long week and i'm so glad the weekend is here! i hope you all have a great one!!
a play tent would be the ultimate in playroom fun (also comes in a garage which is what my twins are getting shhh!! and a cute cottage too).
for the diapered ones, these new patterns from the honest company just kill me. too bad they kill my bank account too but that's why they would make such a nice gift!
omg this rhino head from etsy seller slippin southern (whom i've purchased from before) is to die for. it's maybe a little bit of an odd gift but how can i not include it?
kids stationery is just the cutest i think and it's such a nice gift to receive.
for our four-legged friends (sorry cat lovers, this one's dog-focused)...
actually this first one is a cross-over with the kids. this is one fancy schmancy dog bed but i could just as easily see kids piling on it as a floor pillow.
bark box is yet another in the online subscription services but you can choose to do just one month which would make a perfect gift!
every dog needs a christmas collar. these have a detachable bowtie and are just too cute!

Gift Guide 2013: Home
the home gift guide - always a safe bet. that and alcohol, another safe bet. :)
this gold bamboo bar set is fab. it would be a great hostess gift too!
lots of people have candles but do they have a cute place to store the matches? this little elephant takes care of that!
gold and silver glassware, very festive. mix them together in my opinion!
an etsy giftcard. being such a huge fan of etsy, i think this is a spectacular gift.

Gift Guide 2013: Men
the hardest group to shop for in my opinion but here are a few ideas...
whiskey stones are such a great stocking stuff idea!
these chukka boots are a guest pick from one of my favorite guy friends. they pretty much go with anything and if your significant other is anything like mine, he has a plethora of sneakers and dress shoes but doesn't really focus on anything in between.
the handy man in your life always appreciates new tools. my hubby loves his makita cordless drill which he says holds a charge really well. it has put up many a roman shade so i'm happy too :)
if you're feeling extra super generous, try trunk club which is an online stylist service for men. the idea is similar to stitch fix where you fill out a profile but it's not a monthly subscription and it's pretty high end.
what are your picks for guys this year? i need all the help i can get!
