Mark and Graham

have you heard of mark and graham before? i just got their catalog in the mail and for some reason it caught my eye and i kept it. i get soooo many junk catalogs. does anyone else? i've started calling the companies and asking to be removed from their mailing lists. like office supply companies and cookie grams. wtf?!

anyway, the main reason this one caught my eye is that there's a lot of stuff with monograms!! and it's not outrageously priced which is refreshing. the monograms are also modern and different, not just run-of-the-mill stuff. what do you think?

these leather pouches look buttery soft and i love their contrast lining.

and then they have a whole paper section with tags and twine and bags. and this awesome tape that makes me want to get all crafty.

Monogrammed Lamp

a comment on the jewelry holder post requested more details on the lamp in the picture, so i'll oblige - thanks CLM! :) i wanted a unique lamp for our master bedroom and was inspired by this pic from plum interiors:

google found me a website called the pink giraffe which will let you create your own lamp from a very large number of fabrics, ribbons, and monograms. i chose navy blue fabric, nantucket blue ribbon, and the eleanor monogram.

their monogram options are awesome. going back to the website reminded me that they are featuring my lamp on their site! many of the items they sell are targeted for children but you can also create something that will work in an adult space with a little bit of imagination.

La Plates

personalized melamine plates are everywhere i look and i'm a big fan. i think many people's first reaction is, isn't this idea for kids? and my answer is yes and no. obviously melamine with its non-breakable qualities says kids and there are plenty of kiddie-focused options around. however, it can be a sophisticated look for us big kids too! i present exhibit a:

lots of places have 'em like iomoi, boatman geller, and kates plates. but there is one source that i really love for this stuff. la plates. they have some of the best patterns, colors, and monograms around. a few examples of their plates:

i wanted to find an excuse to get these plates in my casa and was inspired by this table from eddie ross (speaking of sophisticated!):

i love how he took one color palette and changed up the patterns for each setting. so i decided to try it for my own table and got 2 to start:

(patterns are squares and greek key) not as sleek as the grey and yellow color scheme above but i can't wait to see how it looks with the table set at christmas! i love the idea of having something monogrammed on the table for nice occasions. it just makes everything feel more personal. any other sources that you've used or found?

p.s. la plates also has other products like platters, coasters, and cutting boards. clearly i had to treat myself to a cutting board to go in our future kitchen. inspiration and a reminder that one day we will redo our 1982 kitchen:
