Trending: Chevron Necklace

holla. it's been a super busy week - trying to get in gear and finish up a bunch of unfinished projects. we're also facing the terrible twos x2. it's actually the terrible 2 3/4s! and i hear 3 is even better ;)

so back on the jewelry kick. that chevron necklace that i loved so much at anthropologie is no longer available (strangely it looks available still online but i ordered it and they canceled my order - boo). so i thought i'd share a few more options in case anyone else was smitten like me!

j crew factory has a pretty one for a very reasonable price, a little chunkier look though.

here's one from etsy that has a similar feel to the original inspiration (comes in gold as well).

madewell has a version but it doesn't get great reviews.

Elizabeth And James Jewelry

i almost never do posts on jewelry because i'm completely boring and wear the same pieces everyday.  it works and i don't have to think about it which is important - one less thing to worry about in the morning. but i had some precious me-time in anthropologie this weekend and saw a necklace on a girl there that i loved. so naturally i had to ask her where she got it and of course it was anthro! duh!

so then i wondered what other little gems (pun intended :) were out there in anthro's jewelry section and it turns out a lot... but almost everything that i clicked on was by elizabeth and james. they make some awesome, awesome pieces.

good lord i love anthropologie. a friend of mine, who is just as obsessed, and i were talking and we agreed that some of their stuff is a little out there - like i'm pretty sure i saw a rug being sold as a sweater - but the stuff that's good is really really good.

p.s. anthro is definitely not the only place to find elizabeth and james pieces - shopbop, saks, and others sell it too!

It's The Weekend!

we've had the most beautiful week of weather here which i feel is much deserved after our awful, long winter. not a drop of rain in sight which probably means we will never have green grass but beggars can't be choosers! anyway, i saw this necklace a while ago at jcrew and it made me want to get dressed up and go to a wedding or something. it's so up my alley and it's currently 25%. :) (but i need diapers, wipes, and a&d instead). happy weekend!

p.s. i have to say that i'm definitely not loving everything like i usually do at j crew this spring. is it me?

Everyday Jewels

apologies for no post yesterday - we had a weekend of sickness including 2 ear infections and a nebulizer. then of course i caught what the little ones had. yuck. anyway...

i am an accessories designer's worst nightmare. i wear the exact same jewelry almost every day - diamond studs that my hubby gave me the christmas before our twins were born, a three stone necklace that my mother-in-law gave me to represent my three boys :), a pave david yurman ring (have a slight obsession with mr. yurman), my engagement and wedding rings, and a tag heuer watch that i bought in switzerland (and begged my poor parents for) on a college trip making the watch older than i care to say (hint: > than 10 years). it's my uniform and i know it will go with anything.

but admittedly it's a little boring to wear the same things all the time. yesterday a friend was telling me about alex and ani. i had heard of it only because i saw an ad somewhere but i really knew nothing about it.

i love these bangles mixed in silver and gold. i personally find bracelets hard to wear if you spend a lot of time working at a computer. they're also a little too tempting for curious toddlers :) but let's pretend you're planning a week in cabo - these would then need to be on your wrist.

what are your other favorites for jewelry? what am i missing out on? any tips on mixing it up?

Wrap Bracelets

wrap bracelets are big right now and they have been i guess for a while. i love how they look - casual and polished at the same time. i just saw this one at tory burch and was smitten. too bad my lack of income (on personal leave now, maternity leave ended) and moving prevent me from scooping one of these up!

also comes in orange, white, and sky blue. does the easter bunny take wish lists? guess i missed him anyway ;)

I LY

in my household we are not big celebrators of valentine's day. mr. r has firmly stated his opinion - many times ;) - that it's hallmark's way of getting people to spend money on one random day of the year. and that you shouldn't need a holiday to tell someone that you love them. i see his point. although i do think feb 14th can be a nice excuse (or reminder) to write a little love note, if you take time throughout the year to do it, then why pay $80 for a dozen roses when they usually cost $20!

but this is the time of year when v-day gift guides are written and jewelry stores get their advertising on. so getting to the point...my husband and i have a special, between-us-only, way of signing emails to eachother. we finish with a simple "i ly." i love you. i was reading one of the aforementioned gift guides over at elements of style, when i saw this piece:

it's an earring by melissa joy manning. it made me melt when i saw it so i went to her website to check it out in more detail. while there i saw a link to this:

on a whim i forwarded the link to mr. r with a note that it made me think of us. and as a great surprise to me, he loved it too and bought it on the spot. it was on my placemat this evening and very soon after, around my neck.  :)

soooo... it's probably very fitting that this post didn't happen on the 14th, but regardless... to my valentine, happy heart day, i ly.

Jewelry Box Alternative

that is a very uncreative title. however, for christmas this year i received (actually i picked out with my mom and then i received!) a ceramic coral branch on a stand. instead of using it as a decorative piece around the house, i decided to put it to work!

i think it's a really cute way to store the jewelry you wear everyday in a design-friendly way. i found the same stands at shopten 25 in white, coral (imagine!), and a blackish brown.

Blydesign

i found out about blydesign after seeing the designer, katherine, pop up as a follower on vfmh (um that's view from my heels). i felt pretty freakin cool and after coming off my high, i immediately had to find out more about her work. blydesign creates and crafts handmade jewelry as well as a few home decor items.

most recently i saw these and i couldn't take my eyes away:

coasters made of pink agate. simply stunning. and the edge can be done in either gold or silver. for the upcoming holidays, wouldn't it be great to have this rich green on your table?
