we all like a good before and after, amiright??, so let's take a look at the BEFORE shots. (all sources listed at the end of each section - please contact me if you'd like to order the wallpaper in the first or second bathrooms)
the green paint, too small mirror, and cheesy (sorry dad) artwork had to go! we also improved the lighting and faucet while we were at it. here are the AFTER shots!
obviously the big game changer was the beautiful wallpaper by nina campbell for osborne & little. the pattern is bold but classic with just enough of a traditional feeling for my parents. i actually had to shoot this bathroom through the window since it's long and narrow so we popped off the screen, open up the window and i stood on the front porch!
the art was a last minute add but funnily enough, i think it works perfectly. these charcoal drawings were done by my great (maybe great great?) grandmother and were hanging in my parents' dining room. i snagged them off the wall and held them up in here and they fit so well. even the frames were spot on!
it took some time to convince my mom about the shape of this mirror but i'm so glad she went for it in the end. the shape worked well not only because i liked the style but the space between the sconces was tight (and we wanted to avoid moving the electrical boxes in the wall). this particular mirror was tall and narrow and doesn't look squished which is key. one tip - i like to make sure that the top of the mirror is higher than the top of the sconces when they are flanking either side like in this case.
the sconces were an easy update luckily but the faucet was not! my mom didn't want to switch out the faucet or the tp holder for that matter. my argument is always the same - do the whole job and go all the way, not just part of the way. and guess what? she said loves the new faucet and is so glad we made the change!
mixing metals can be a tough sell as well but it always looks so great in the end. the brass provides that touch of warmth that the space needed.

the first bathroom i revealed was also a great before and after. here is a BEFORE.
basically builder blah. nothing interesting going on at all and another mirror that was too small. but again it's so easy to fix with some fun wallpaper. here's the AFTER.
in addition to the wallpaper, we swapped out the sconces and the mirror. everything else is the same but the difference is night and day!

and lastly, the final bathroom i worked on where we went bold and it really paid off! i stupidly don't have a before shot here but imagine white walls, a glued-on white framed mirror, and an ugly faucet. now the AFTER!
while we were at it, we changed the mirror (a homegoods find!), tp holder, knobs, and faucet. all of the changes brought the space together while keeping it fun and unexpected.
